Yes. It usually happens when I play too many hours in a day. When I go to bed it is like the game is burned into my brain that is connected to my REM sleep. So during tte REM episodes I am either still playing the game or have become the character, usually playing the same scenario over again. It’s usually a raid boss or something that I am learning and/or playing too much with multiple characters.
When I play too much of a game they frequently show up in my dreams
A lot of my dreams “zoom out” and turn out to be me playing a game, usually if too many fantastical elements are happening in it. Most of my dreams are relatively grounded, so my brain tries to explain itself when they aren’t, I guess.
Doing something (but not a game, serious real life), playing a game (serious, but not really) and watching somebody play a game could be called 3 ways of looking at the same thing
When Battlefield 1942 came out I remember having a dream of doing an airdrop as part of operation market garden and freaking out after I landed that I couldn’t see my hud.
It was an odd dream.Yes, it happened to me once. I dreamed I was the main character in GTA: San Andreas, but I wasn’t CJ, I was myself inside the game. It was pretty weird, but stealing a truck was amazing.
Don’t let your dreams be dreams. If you apply yourself you can learn how to steal trucks!
Years ago I had a dream where I was basically Isaac Clarke in Dead Space. Let’s just say it wasn’t exactly a pleasant dream but I still felt very badass
Isaac Clarke. Now that is one suave moniker.
Sounds like it should’ve been the name of some bass-y, smoky-voiced soul singer in the 70s.
Just in case you didn’t know, it’s the names of 2 legendary science fiction authors.
Isaac Asimov and Arthur C Clarke
I semi-regularly dream that I’m playing a video game, but it usually is a more like a hybrid between controlling a video game character, and being the actual character.
It usually manifests itself as some alternate reality version of WoW (because I’ve played that more than any other game, I assume). Sometimes I even think to myself, “it’s amazing that I’ve never seen this part of WoW before!”
I play Valorant at least 3 times a week, often I dream I’m playing it, and it feels exactly how you described, the perspective keep changing then I’m suddenly in the game, playing it or watching me playing it
I have frequent Minecraft dreams. Usually I’m building a cathedral and the Minecraft zombies start turning into Doom zombies and then I’m building Doom levels.
I end up being a part of the game. I’ve had “nightmares” where I’m playing minecraft skyblock on a server and am unable to type in a command to lock my island to prevent people from joining. The issue: the command doesn’t work and my keyboard is my skirt
Why is almost everyone here getting downvoted? Lmao
More Redditors have joined, thats probably why. Bringing Reddit culture here to Lemmy.
lemmy is famous for being extra savage
Yeah, happens sometimes. Usually I don’t play very long, and focus away from the game & into the rest of the dream.
Vivid dreams where I would be in some sort of testing facility with buttons and rooms.
I’ve had several dreams that start in the real world and then transition into a Minecraft world or the other way around.
I had a lucid dream once upon a time, and decided I wanted to be Master Chief, it was unbelievably awesome
In the early 2000s when I was playing EverQuest like it was my job (~50hr/wk, I’m embarassed to say) I would have a couple recurrent dreams of being a character in EverQuest. The first I was being chased by Cazel (a named sand giant) through a zone called Oasis of Mar. In the second, a griffin was being pulled to the East Commons tunnel (big trading hub in the early days of EverQuest) and I kept dropping my bags trying to run away.
