this is NOT related to that recent post here about blocking .ml.

i already kno that i can block users.

ive had very bad experiences from a certain… instance i would like to block entirely. i have been on the lookout for users commenting and interacting on the communities i care about, and that instance is… not so important to me. som of these peeps hav been evil to me before…

can i just like - block em? like - the entire instance?.. or do i have to nicely ask the Ada <3 to… block it for every blahaj fren? (i dun want that! u peeps shud be able to interact with whoever u wan! i dun wan to be ur dictator <3 )

Yeah, for me its under sertings then block list, so look for something like that probably. Not sure if it works exactly the same on any client, but for me it completely blocks any posts from that community, and replies from someone in that community on a post outside of it is automatically hidden with a button to show if I want to see it

Nah, you can block em yourself. I highly recommend it, I blocked .world about a month ago and feel like my lemmy experience has really improved. At least on Boost, it’s as simple as clicking the three stacked dots next to a post and choosing block instance.

on the default lemmy ui for desktop you can go to settings, blocks, and there is a tab to block instances. most clients will also have options to do this, but locations where may vary.

Ooo interesting ui. I don’t like seeing vote counts, but seeing my own votes next to people’s names would be neato.

How are you doing it? What client?

Darn, I’m using Voyager, but only have the options to show/hide all comment votes. Maybe it’s not on Android.

Depends on what you mean by Block.

Most lemmy Ui’s let you block it in that it hides the communities.

But you’ll still see posts and comments by users from that instace on other instances
