I sat and guarded the food while the cats ate so the religious nutcase didn’t throw away their food.

This is what it’s come to lol

God I fucking hate this suburb and it’s demographics.

What happened last time? Did they just say “it’s against my religious beliefs” and just tossed it all away?

I hate people who use things like that as a shield to justify their actions.

      Man that’s weird.

Just had a quick squizz at which religions / cultures don’t like cats and it’s a bit of a mixed bag!

        She’s either sikh or hindu.

Also note that I’ve been routinely been treated quite poorly by the Indian community because of my race. So that isn’t helping either.

Her issue is feeding them any kind of meat.

Like her beliefs trump innocent creatures well-being. They will die if all they eat are vegetables.

Cats are obligate carnivores, they have to eat meat.

FWIW the cats won’t mind eating kibble off the ground. No serving container means nothing to help throw it out.

That’s a damn good point. I never thought of putting it on the ground.

That said, I felt fine sitting and chilling with them. Was pretty cool. And I give them wet food as well.

Feeding them on the other side of the fence keeps me in public land. She can’t do shit except wait for me to leave so she can throw whatever food is left into the bin.

I wonder if she feels righteous when she does that.

Also, it made me smile when she walked past and saw me lol

    City excursion with family today.

Always a great bonding and sharing experience for us.

Both kids confided in us about different things.

    Parenting win… hopefully.

Korean BBQ for dinner and jamming out to 80s music on the ride home.

Life isn’t perfect but this was pretty close

I knew there was a car show in Reservoir this weekend but I wasn’t sure when it was. There was a community Easter thing on today that had cars at it so I took the boys there.

I checked my calendar and I did put a reminder in my calendar. It’s on tomorrow, so we can go down to reservoir tomorrow and look at cars again

hmm, anyone do woodworking? I have a bigass solid corner desk with a corner bookshelf on top of it - but I want to raise the bookshelf. It’s all solid pine, I have the panels to do it, but how to attach…

IDK what you mean by panels.

Can you add some legs to the bookshelf so it sits higher and you can use the desk space under it?

        Ze desk.

I want to raise it from the bottom (so the top cornices will be same height as a bookcase nearby) , i have solid pine panels a matching thickness (20mm) the desired height (300mm) and proper length (900mm per arm) just pondering attachments. Dowels? Biscuits? Cam locks? Scribe in and metal plates?

The bookcase just sits on the desk, so no worries there…

Yeah I’m not sure. Reminds me of a buffet w/hutch, they’ve got vertical supports in the back, but the hutch sits flush on the buffet. Do you have any equipment for cutting in dowels or biscuits? Even glue or gravity might do the trick.

Yup, i got everything for all options i’m considering :). I was leaning to camlocks and pins in case i ever wanted to remove it, but reading up it seems they’re best for connecting an upright to a flat plane at 90c, not joining boards

Bookcase doesn’t have any supports that extend past the back of the desk thank fuck, just sits flat.

I have just bought myself a second hand portable air conditioner on eBay. I’m a bit spoiled where I am with airconditioner coverage in most of the house, but the rental places generally don’t have more than a single room covered. I have seen some stuff about adapting vent covers to pull intake air from outside to make the portable units more efficient, so it will be interesting to see if that works - apparently a major reason they don’t work as well as inbuilt is because the hot air being exhausted outside causes a vacuum which pulls fresh (hot) air into the room, many units sold overseas have a second vent for that air intake, but for some reason they don’t sell them with that configuration in Australia.

Even if that doesn’t work out it should be efficient enough to let me sleep in hot weather, and it was a good price only 5 mins away from work to pick up. Now I just have to actually get a property to put it in. They have contacted references so that’s a start, but it is one of the places you apply before you can inspect the property, so even if approved at this stage it is still just a short list. It does indicate the application wasn’t just thrown in the bin due to having pets or something though, so I guess it is positive news. I’m trying not to become too attached to the idea of this specific place, but I’m mentally working out where all the furniture goes and how I’ll decorate, so I guess that’s not really working 🤣

Took Minipeelers to lunch and a movie (Minecraft). By the time we walked out of the cinema it was pretty warm. Went to buy a couple of things grocery wise and some new summer hats because I have no idea whatsoever where the other summer hats have gone. We all chose identical cane cowboy hats, so we looked like some odd hick family lol.

This is the situation: I have a manual Corolla which she likes but can’t drive. He has a auto Camry which she practices in but hates. So I was willing to sacrifice my car so she could have one.

        But…

The man doesn’t want to give mine up because it has only done 120k’s and it’s a good car in good condition. What he wants to do is run his into the ground then take mine. I’m like “ok” because I really don’t care as long as I can go about my business occasionally and the kid gets a car to drive me to the pub when she gets her licence.

Cars must have names! I’ve named all of my cars from the same book series since I was 16. Currently driving an i30n named Kaelas. Boyo’s fam just names them after their rego plates.

My old car was Huey, based on the numberplate UEE.

New van can probably be Todd, as the mnemonic I’m using to remember the new numberplate is whisky + tea, which is a hot toddy.

Traditionally cars are supposed to have female names for some reason (or at least that was what I was told growing up) but with equality and all I think boy names should be fine.

It’s also nicer to think we’re being borne by a Valkyrie rather than a clapped-out commodore, lol

Hot damn it’s Not Cold At All out there. Have a tank top and very light cardigan on and feeling warm… friggin confusing…

Well if it’s going to be like this can it stay warm until just before Anzac Day? I don’t want it to get cold again before I have to go to the Tropical Soup.

So far 25C and possible rain next Friday… It might end up cooling down again. Look as long as we can avoid max 16C days before I leave I’ll be happy. Don’t want to do deal with going from 16C to 32C and 90% humidity and 27C overnight…
